LORQ:TECH #50: ~ Another Toroid Snack ~

22 Apr

The cross point of a figure 8 is pointed either down or up and the angle at the cross point is stretched to 90 degrees.  Either the left or right hand is leading the figure 8.  Whichever hand is leading bends up to floor plane (45 degrees at the cross point) while the trailing hand becomes the leading hand.

LORQ:TECH #48: ~NINJA FLOW 2 (Tether and Throws Flow 2)

16 Apr

Continuing to explore tether manipulations combined with throws.  New Ninja combinations not yet shown, with many more combinations in videos to come.

LORQ:TECH #47: ~Tether and Throws Flow~

10 Apr

This is the best 2 poi I’ve caught on film so far.
Music: “Oakland Rope” by Claude VonStroke ft. Fox & Py

In addition to lots of gunsling wrist-wraps, continuous arm rolls, throws,
and all that stuff combined, you get:

0:00- Tether manip on top petal of 2-Petal Vertical Prospin (Underhand)
0:23- Tether manip on top petal of 2-Petal Vertical Prospin (Overhand)
0:46- Gunsling wrist-wraps to Together-time Same-direction 1-Petal Inspin (Petal pointing left)
1:06- Gunsling wrist-wrap vs. continuous contact roll
2:55- 4-Petal Diamond Antispin throw (over top, extension at bottom) vs. 2-Petal Horizontal Prospin.
3:01- 4-Petal Diamond Antispin vs. no-beat toss
4:48- gunsling wrist-wrap (2 versions) vs. 2-beat reels (underneath shoulder and above shoulder).

Did I mention Slow-Motion!

Woot!

TUTORIAL: ~Gunsling Wrist-Wraps~

6 Apr

Due to Popular Request: a Tutorial on the tether manipulations found in my last video “Gunsling Wrist-Wraps.”

“Slide up the tether, wrap, move to the other side of the body, and unwrap.”

Music: “Nude” (Justin Martin Remix).

LORQ:TECH #46: ~Gunsling Wrist-Wraps~

25 Mar

2 Poi Dopeness. Illusional tether manipulations that pinch like a gunslinger, then do an extra wrap (twist) around the wrist before changing sides of the arm and unwrapping. It took a while to get them clean, but they look really good when done well.

LORQ:TECH #41 ~9 Flower Families! (with Trails)~

18 Jan

One hybrid is used to show 9 different planar relationships of the poi to the hands (With Glow Trails! Check it out!)

My favorites (in order) are @2:03, 1:25… okay the toroid at 0:50 looks sweet with the trails too.

0:07 –Poi rotating in Wall Plane on Y and Wall Plane on X {2D}
0:18 –Poi rotating in Wheel Plane on Y and Wall Plane on X (bending in Floor) {Helical-Toroidal)
0:38 –Poi rotating in Wheel Plane on Y and Wheel Plane on X {Helical}
0:50 –Poi rotating in Wheel Plane on Y and Floor Plane on X (bending in Wall) {Toroidal- Diamond Mode}
1:07 –Poi rotating in Floor Plane on Y and Floor Plane on X {Helical}
1:25 –Poi rotating in Wall Plane on Y and Floor Plane on X (bending in Wheel) {Helical-Toroidal}
1:47 –Poi rotating in Wall Plane on Y and Wheel Plane on X (bending in Floor) {Helical-Toroidal}
2:03 –Poi rotating in Floor Plane on Y and Wheel Plane on X (bending in Wall) {Toroidal- Box Mode}
2:29 –Poi rotating in Floor Plane on Y and Wall Plane on X (bending in Wheel) {Helical-Toroidal}
2:43 –Flow Jam showing some flow with the concepts.

Plane-Bending: ~8 Basic Bends~ :FireDrums XII Video Tutorial Contest

16 Jan

Plane-Bending: 8 Basic Bends (in under 8 minutes!)
Start your Plane-Bending workout today! Check out the sweet “trails” effect!

This is my submission to the FireDrums Video Tutorial Contest!

Plane-Bending in wall plane means the poi rotate in wheel plane and bend to rotate in floor plane. 4 timing and directions can be perfomed 2 ways each: Toward/Toward (and Away/Away) and Toward/Away (and Away/Toward).

72 Arm Path– Square Version (Teaser)

31 Dec

Image

Colored tiles represents positions of the arms in 3D space.  Positive (+) and negative (-) are assigned to each of three axes.  Each large position tile represents one of nine possibilites of the left and right arm on 3 axes.  Left is pink and Right is Cyan. Each large position tile represents 4 positions of the arms.  (++, –, +-, -+).  Each middle-sized position tile represents two positions of the arms, each with a mirror, making 4 small position tiles in the itty-bitty squares.  white dots represent the arm being on the “positive” side of the axis, while the black dots represent the arms’ position on the “negative” side of the axis.

All tiles are viewed as from the back of a teacher, the back of a stage, or the back of yourself staring out at an audience.

The two heand will each move in either wall plane, wheel plane, or floor plane.

Wall Plane Shapes in Tech Tiles :)

1 Nov

Look at the tiles as if viewing the human body from the back of the stage (looking out at an audience), or as if looking at the back of a teacher at a workshop.

Each tile represents a quarter of a rotation of the hands, either from the left/right axis to the up/down axis or vice versa.

Tiles are read from left to right (and can continue again on the left side of the same row).

Prop movement is read from opaque to bold and from black to white.

Right side of body is Blue

Left side of body is Pink

In these shapes,  the prop is either pointing in (toward the shoulder) or pointing out (away from the heart) as the hand  rotates and passes the up/down or left/right axis.

On each page the:

Top Row–  Shows the right hand moving clockwise and the torso staying facing toward the audience.

Second Row–  Shows the right hand moving counter-clockwise and the torso turning from front to right front to left to…

Third Row–  Shows the left hand moving clockwise and the torso turning in a circle to the right.

Bottom Row–  Shows the left hand moving counter-clockwise and the torso tuning in a circle to the left.

All of these prop paths (left and right hand both moving clockwise and counter-clockwise) can be performed in any of the 4 “body paths” shown.  Once you get a good idea of what is happening, combine them in your mind!
